Hearing aids can help people keep socially connected and active

MS was brought to the Zephyrhills office of Gardner Audiology by a friend and neighbor. She has longstanding moderately severe hearing loss and came with one broken hearing aid and one older, working hearing aid. Her friend commented that she was becoming socially isolated, due to her inability to communicate.

MS chose to Field Study the Starkey Muse iQ i2400 receiver in the canal hearing aids. She wanted to trial the hearing aids with the best noise management to help her in groups and noisy places. She was fitted and returned in one week for a follow up. She walked in with a huge smile on her face and was thrilled with how much better she was hearing! We made minor adjustments and she continues to thrive. Her friend commented that she was back to her original social self!

Untreated hearing loss can be very socially isolating. Very often if a person knows they will struggle to hear somewhere, he or she will stop going. Untreated hearing loss can also be associated with depression. Improving hearing with hearing aids can help to keep people socially connected and active.
